Little Kitten 237 X 205 Charcoal on Paper Unsigned in ALDINGA, South Australia for sale
This Kitten remained unsigned as it was her most treasured charcoal from her personal collection. It also comes with a print block in minature and a collection of cards printed from this. It may look old because it is but has never been sold. I think of it as a vintage patina This is the original Charcoal that Ingrid used for sending hundreds of prints as greeting cards.
Ingrid Erns Her Personal Collection
Ingrid Erns Was my Godmother. She was also my father’s first wife. I was born to his second wife. When she passed on in in 1987 my father inherited her collection. When He passed on I inherited it. This is the last of her works that were personal favourites that I have kept since I took over the collection of my Father’s estate as administrator in 2002. Ingrid was well known locally as a traditional portrait and landscape artist painting portraits of The Bonython and the Simpson families to name but a few. She came out to Australia in 1947 after having studied at an art school run by the Lovure in Paris. She was well respected by her peers having received many hand drawn cards from Ruth Tuck and Mervyn Smith. Despite this her paintings and drawings never achieved the recognition she craved. I have decided to move the entire collection on as there is too many to hang up. I would much prefer that someone enjoys them than gather dust in a drawer. They are modestly priced. I think they are a steal. So grab yourself a bargain. All are unframed so you can select a frame that best suits your tastes and décor. Some are unsigned early works and priced accordingly. The collection is quite extensive and may take some time to list. This includes exquisite line drawing stencils for prints. These can be viewed by appointment. Prices may be open to a small margin of negotiation but lowball offers will be ignored. Thank you for taking the time to read this introduction.
Kindest regards Mark.
